Published in July 2021, the latest CNSF Clinical Practice Guidelines are now available in English, published in December 2022 in a special edition of the official journal of the American College of Midwives, Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health. The recommendations, which address interventions during the perinatal period, have been translated under the generic title « New Guidelines for Clinical Practice from the French National College of Midwives » and are available for free access on the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health website.

The Journal of Midwifery ans Women’s Health (JMWH) disseminates new research and current knowledge on clinical and interprofessional topics, including perinatal care, gynecology, sexual and reproductive health, primary care, public health, health care policy, and global health.

This is a huge recognition for these recommendations, for the CNSF and especially for all the people who have contributed to this enormous work of research in maieutics, and we are delighted with this international visibility!

Elaborated under the aegis of the CNSF and coordinated by Chloé Barasinski and Rémi Beranger, these recommendations were realized thanks to the collaboration with, among others, Santé Publique France, the Association Française de Pédiatrie Ambulatoire (AFPA), the Collège de Médecine Générale (CMG), the Collectif inter associatif autour de la naissance (CIANE), and are a 3 years work, gathering 25 experts and researchers.

The main objective of these recommendations is to redefine the main preventive actions and informations to be delivered as well as to be carried out by health professionals, for families, before, during and after pregnancy. They also contain an updated scientific argument, as well as a proposed hierarchy of messages, to facilitate implementation and put an end to contradictory injunctions. Harmonization work has also been carried out with Santé Publique France, to ensure consistency in the messages disseminated by the agency to the general public.

Find and distribute these CPRs translated into English, in free access on the website of the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health.
